Constitution changes 2014
Dear Members,
The following amendments were proposed as per Section 16 of the constitution by Anura Ferdinand on the 24th of September 2014 to the Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Canada Association of Ottawa and was presented at the Annual General Meeting held on the 2nd of November 2014 at the Heron Road Community Center.
Amendment #1:
Effected Section #8c: Office Bearers
Renaming of the Director of Information to Director Communication and Technology
This is proposed to update the title to a more meaningful and current title that would reflect the tasks assigned to this role.
Result --> Unanimously passed
Amendment #2:
Effected Section #8c: Office Bearers
Removal of Assistant Director Information
Background: Over the last 10 years we have seen capable volunteers accepting this position to perform comparable lesser duties.
Result --> Unanimously passed
Amendment #3:
Effected Section#8c: Office Bearers
Addition of a new committee: Editorial committee
Background: Over the last 2 years SLCAO has seen in increasing reliance on a set of dedicated volunteers doing work without any official recognition. I would like to propose this committee to include 3-6 members as decided by the Executive Committee. The President and The Director Communication & Technology to be standing members of this committee. This committee will oversee (guidelines only may vary from EC to EC):
- the production and distribution of the monthly Newsletters
- Facebook updates
- Twitter updates
- will include an Editor

Amendment #4
Effected Section#8c: Office Bearers
Addition of a New Position: Director of Assets and Fund Raising
Background: With the recent asset acquisition increase in SLCAO, it has been identified that there needs to be a process in handling SLCAO assets, maintenance and monitoring of assets in SLCAO. The other responsibility would be that the incumbent will also be responsible of finding new ways to raise funds.
Result --> Unanimously passed
